I know, I know. I have no willpower. But when I saw this dress, I knew I could not wait. I knew it was going to sell out and if I didn’t jump on the sale RIGHT THEN I was going to miss out on this dress, and that would be UNACCEPTABLE. Because it is green and black and velvet and everything I ever wanted in my closet.
On my desk at work, I have a picture of me, Doug, and Gizmo. It was taken long long ago – maybe 2011? – in front of Doug’s mom’s Christmas tree. It’s one of my favorite pictures of us, but as the years have gone on, I’ve been wanting to get new pictures since we’ve changed. So a few weeks ago, I asked my coworkers Dylan and Danielle, owners of Three Twenty Studio, if they would come over and do family portraits of the three of us. Doug wasn’t too keen on the idea (he doesn’t like having his picture taken), but I convinced him that it would be fun. And I was right. It was fun. 😀 I wanted our pictures to be fairly casual – just us in what we would normally wear every day – although we did put a bandana on Gizmo because it just made […]
Last week was ROUGH, y’all. I’m really trying my hardest not to buy any new clothes until after Labor Day, but it is HARD to not shop when I am stressed. I did have to buy a pair of shorts – because my office does volunteer work once a month and I like to died this month wearing jeans – but it’s definitely not the same thing. With all of the dress groups I follow on Facebook and Instagram, seeing so many gorgeous ladies wearing new styles, the temptation is REALLY REAL. But I can window shop to my heart’s content, and I have so many pieces in my closet that I should wear instead!
Happy Friday everyone! Time to look at some of the awesome things that are happening all around this week.
After my last post, I’ve discovered that I’m definitely not alone in feeling burnout. A lot of other people on Twitter and Facebook have been talking about the same thing. On top of that, there’s dealing with the feelings of guilt when we choose to talk about things other than what’s going on in the world today. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I’ve figured out that I can’t fight back if I’m exhausted. So I’m choosing to take my happiness when and where I can for my own health. And with that, I’m going to stretch my writing fingers and start doing a post every week on Friday, talking about the things that made me happy this week. So let’s begin, shall we?
I think I need to take a break from social media, or filter out what I’m seeing for a while. I don’t know how long. All I know is that checking things and being in a constant state of “knowing” is leaving me drained and miserable. For some reason, today feels worse than most.
So back in January (I know, I am super late with this!) Doug and I visited Los Angeles for a few days! He had to go out there for a work event, and I was lucky enough to be able to go with him. Our first few days were spent mostly at the Los Angeles Convention Center (which was HUGE), but after the event was over we had a couple of days to play tourist. I discovered that I loved Los Angeles a hell of a lot more than I ever thought I would. Here’s some pictures from our trip!
