Stress Window Shopping: Vixen & La Femme En Noir

Last week was ROUGH, y’all.  I’m really trying my hardest not to buy any new clothes until after Labor Day, but it is HARD to not shop when I am stressed.  I did have to buy a pair of shorts – because my office does volunteer work once a month and I like to died this month wearing jeans – but it’s definitely not the same thing.  With all of the dress groups I follow on Facebook and Instagram, seeing so many gorgeous ladies wearing new styles, the temptation is REALLY REAL.  But I can window shop to my heart’s content, and I have so many pieces in my closet that I should wear instead!
One of my favorite brands that I discovered over the past couple of years is Vixen, and its sister brand, La Femme En Noir.  The designer, Micheline Pitt, has been a fixture in the retro fashion world for years, and she only recently started these lines.  One of the big reasons I adore her work is that she is devoted to offering every piece in each line from XS to a 4X.  There’s no cherry-picking about what styles would be accessible to all sizes, they’re just all available in all sizes!  Also, most of their swing dresses have super-deep pockets, and almost everything comes with a belt!

I currently have these pieces from the Vixen line that I love (and I really should wear them more often because I feel fabulous in them) –

However, there are quite a few pieces that have come out over the past six months that I am drooling over – and hoping that they won’t sell out before Labor Day!

And even though I haven’t bought any pieces from Vixen’s gorgeously gothic sister line, La Femme En Noir, I’m definitely coveting many pieces from there.  Deep necklines to show off gorgeous décolletage, oxblood and black, velvet and lace.  SIGH.  And if you’re wanting to really channel your #SummerGoth, check out LFEN’s brand-new swimwear pieces.  Stripes, sleeves, swim capris, lace-up accents, and high-waisted bottoms!  Just give me a gigantic black wide-brimmed hat and let me go full Lydia Deetz on the beach.

Not only does Micheline design fabulous clothes for all sizes, she’s also very active on the fan group for Vixen and LFEN on Facebook, The Vixen’s Salon.  The group is full of positive women who share their new purchases, ask for advice, and generally be awesome to each other!

Now I just need to decide what I’m buying first when my self-imposed spending freeze is up…
